Salvation Army - Manager Review

I frequent almost all the salvo stores in my area. There is one manager of one of the salvos her name is erica navarro and i think she is a racist. I felt discriminated. She changed the price of a book telling me it's a hard bound where in fact it's a soft bound. Everytime I buy from her she would scrutinize the tag as if I did something to it. I'm always at that store every monday. Never missed a monday. The store is located on sheridan road in waukegan.

Sue, why does it matter if she was Muslim? There are plenty of room rude white people everywhere.

You are *** right. Salvation Army in barking is being run by a Muslim and the wife with one Captain Steve Noble overseeing and they are no different. They are very rude to customers and racist as well.

Taking things that don't belong to them

I have donated to the SA many times, but I won't do it again. On March 16, 2017, I put three boxes on the front porch and clearly marked them for the SA. I was doing other work around the house and was using my push cart. I left the cart on the porch for a moment, and when I returned, the boxes and the push cart (valued at $75) were all gone. I called SA and the very unhelpful dispatch person told me the cart was not there. It was not there because the driver took it home for himself. The porch is very large, requiring several steps to get from one side to the other. The boxes were on one side of the porch, and the cart was on the opposite side. Someone had to walk from the boxes, passing other stuff like patio furniture and planters, to get to the side where the cart was, and then he had to push the cart back across the porch again, past the other things not taken, just to get off the porch. This was not an accident, and the people at SA are refusing to reimburse me for the theft. Do not call these people to your home because your property is not safe from them.

I agree with the other anon poster - if you don't have proof and you defame someone's character then they could come after you and sue you for everything you have and will ever have.

Do you have proof that the driver took it home for himself?

Salvation Army Donation Review

We tried to drop off donations today at the Morris, MN location but were told that donation times were closed but the store was still open. I think this is a ridiculous rule since people were still there. The guy that told us this was also not very friendly. Is this how we envision the missing this organization? Just disappointed.

Kevin Woods is not doing a good job and seems to be as lazy as they get. Meanwhile there are people in the Haines area going hungry. Keven seems well fed he must have gained 150lbs sine he came here. Hes a nice guy dont get me wrong but lacks incentive big time!! Could be he is having health or family problems but whatever it is his poor leadership is causing people who depend on him to suffer. We have had some fantastic salvation army people over the years but Kevin is not one of them. We have low income seniors struggling to stay warm or eat a good meal. Please help these poor locals who need help badly thanks!

Salvation Army - Manager Review

During the past few weeks, the S.A. In Columbus, Ga. has been undergoing some renovation. I personally have been there to donate which is nice because they supposedly give back to the community. But on my mist recent donation, the one employee who is named Jackie and I forms you that she is second in command is one of the rudest most worthless piece of life that I have ever encountered. While they have a greater at the door to let you know that they are closed due to remodeling and that he is so polite to give you a flyer announcing their reopening, I don't need to her this old crack where yelling across the the store that they're closed when this nice polite older gentleman is very nicely and in a pleasant tone of voice informing of there remodeling and reopening. May I suggest to you that 1 - You drug test her and 2 - you fire her. As a former law enforcement agent, I know it when I see it. Also, your remodeling could have been done in less then 10 days if you had people that knew what they were doing and not pull them off a job to go do some other B.S. until that job was complete. Basically, I'm sure it would be more cost effective if you hired professional contractors who are licensed, insured and bonded.

Nasty employee

I made product donation to the Salvation Army and so I did the pick option. It was tv, AC, washer and dryer.

So I did the pick up for the tv and AC on February and they cancel on us. We called someone to rescheduled and they said they would put the other items with the washer for March. So I called again because nobody came to pick up the washer and I get a man on the phone. He ask me how the condition of the washer and dryer.

I said they okay it still works they are used items. He said that we don't take anything unless it looks new. I been to several Salvation Army store and everything they have there are used. So I'm trying to ask him other question, but he keeps harping how the condition for the washer and dryer.

I keep telling him it okay it still works and he has the nerve to say that I'm not answer his question. I asked him does he know what donation means. So he gets angry and tells me that all my donation pickup will be cancel and hangs up on me.

Not only that when I call back someone says that all donation pickup are cancel at my zip code. Your customer service is horrible.

The troll is still at work I see. Why do you post as anonymous?

You can use the Internet to get rid of your stuff. Freecycle.org and other sites in your area are places you can post items for offer or wanted if you need items. Do a little Googling and you will find people happy to have your stuff without the bad attitudes. For tax purposes, I'm sure you could have something in writing to document the donation if that's acceptable to the IRS.

Salvation Army - Customer Care Review

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
The SA claims to be a Christian based organization, yet they allow vulgar talk when you are trying to eat. When I brought it up to Patty, the woman who let us in to eat I was informed if I didn't like the language I could go elsewhere! This really is a good example for the kids that eat there!!! I and others tried to donate blankets and were turned away, yet some of the guys staying at the SA called me and asked for some which we gave them. Admittedly, over time people begin to harden with all the problems they deal with, but that should never be an excuse for losing site of the mission.

I live in Nashua Nh , a new Salvation Army store open a year ago. They have some nice clothing , but the fact that 90% of it has holes in the fabric , due to the staple and tag is put on the merchandise! This could be avoided by headquarters buying tag guns and the tags being put in a seem or label that won't make *** The store would make more money and the customer would buy more. I mentioned it the the woman in charge , her response was , they don't have time to worry about that! It's like they don't care. Its enough if the clothes have stains or any small damage , why do they have to add to it! I would like to know if anything will be done about this

Continious Belittleing

To whom it may concern, 11/04/2016

I Dawn Nutting have been in the employ of the Salvation Army Twin Falls since August 2016 and since that time I have seen Lt. Felecia Cook have a temper numerous time with Patty Cameron as well as myself. I witnessed her belittle her with her tone of voice as well as myself. Lt. Felicia has a power problem and the fact that she likes to exert it over her employees is simply wrong. I picked up some cookies off the bread line after all the in-need people had come through one day and was going to give out cookies to the children that come to my office. I was informed that I’m not allowed to do that and made to feel ashamed for doing it. I was informed that I am to tell the needy “No” and make them come back for appointments which I don’t have problems with but neither Lieutenant has bothered to learn what goes in a food box.

As far as our bread line I was informed that it was my job only and I determined what went where, but that’s not the case. So basically, when I’m at a service meeting it will not get done by either lieutenant. Then there’s our after-school program they closed it instead of filling the gap and running it and it upset people in our community to the point that some long-time donors weren’t going to donate anymore. Lieutenant Felicia insists that their way is the right way when so far all I’ve seen is our community upset and some people going hungry. I think maybe they were trained in a “big-city community” and our community is still very ma and pa with most of us in the community being related. I was treated like a robber for having my daughter come in and apply even though she met the guidelines for the Christmas program and gets a food box from the core once a year.

The other thing that bothered me was Felicia insisting that I go to their church so the people could see me there. I felt like my choice to worship somewhere of my choosing was being taken from me. Lieutenant Felicia is very bossy and pushy and insists on things being done her way. We are very short staffed and having volunteers doing a lot of the work around the Core there. I am expected to get the bread and donations in half an hour when sometimes I can have six carts to unload. I was told I only had to do this for two weeks it’s been three months. I then must come in to upwards of 17 messages and try to get back to the neediest as well as my own paperwork, ordering food from the food bank, running the pantry and doing energy assistance and bus passes. As I’m sure your aware to be thorough we must take a little time to get the client entered into the system. I am also expected to keep tabs on all volunteers. None of this I mind it just is time consuming and I was recently belittled because of the appearance of my desk. I had a week and a half training before my predecessor left and I’ve literally had to train myself on most things.

I got some gas cards donated to help the needy and it’s been a week and I’m still waiting on how to disperse them. I also got one of our bread donors to do a food drive and Lt. Felicia has taken over a month to make a flyer for it to start. Lieutenant Troy backs Felicia up even when she’s overbearing so I feel he is just as guilty. Since their arrival they haven’t gotten any operating grants approved and tell me I must ask permission to try. I did try for one grant by using an old accepted format but wasn’t given the proper documentation on time to get it from the company this was also at the hands of Lieutenant Felicia. They spend a lot of time in their offices and little interacting with the people. That or running their son to school and activities. When we have an unruly person in the building they usually do very little to back us up in asking the person to leave even when they are drunk or belligerent. My hours have been changed 3 times as well as now my lunch is a half hour. When I need answers my lieutenants are clueless. I’m telling you these things not necessarily to get anyone into trouble but let you know that they aren’t treating the workers there with very much dignity or respect. This is turning people away in our community as well as our reputation as giving, loving Christians. Patty Cameron is a bright star there and has the love of Christ. I tell you this so the next person that comes to have my position might be better trained as well as the truth about how the employees are treated there. The previous person that had my job left because of them also and told me that she felt sorry for me. Please don’t turn a blind eye to this being belittled is almost as bad as being physically hit to the soul. The lieutenants put all the work on the employees and don’t seem to consider how many hats we wear.

Growing up around here as well as having many family members in the service field I can honestly say that they are ruining the Salvation Army’s reputation as a loving place in our community which is how I’ve known it even as a small child here.

Thanks for your time,

Dawn Nutting

Salvation Army - Donation Review

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Last year, I tried to get help from the Salvation Army. They told me I had to shell out money to my doctor to prove he was disabled. What does that have to do with getting help for my child? I couldn't afford even to get a letter and when I went back to tell them that, and brought with me a social worker, the pretended I never applied and they didn't know what I was talking about. Needless to say, I didn't get help last year. 14 years ago I was homeless with two kids and asked for help from the Salvation Army and they told me they were closed for the season but continued to make cash sales in the store section of the building. Today I look on Facebook and a woman tried to make a donation of toys for the toy drive and she was told no they don't want the toys they want the money. I didn't realize Salvation Army was so money hungry.

Poor client / staff interaction

I was given a two month stay by a case worker in Aug. 2016 at the Salvation Army located at 1907 N W 38th St. 33142 in Miami, my deadline was Oct. 25th. I asked the case worker Irene she's Hispanic a week before it was time to leave if i could get an extension, she pushed her chair away from her desk and said no, she was making faces with it, so I asked her was something wrong, she said no, it must be be you, and i said i,m a asking you a logical question, I said, you told me that i can change my program from disability and look for work if i need to stay longer, you said i can get a letter from my lawyer about my case if any thing changes, so told her i will bring her a letter from the lawyer, but she was being so negative toward me and she told me to look for work and she will see if she can help me stay longer, I told her other people had been here from 9 months to a year here at the shelter and they didn't work, so when i came back with the letter i showed it to Ms. America because i thought she was in charge. She told me she wasn't the Director Jeanie is, i need to see her, i gave the copy of the letter to the staff worker Valarie she said she put it in her mailbox, so a couple of weeks went by and she never responded to me about the letter my lawyer gave her asking for an extension because i don't have no place else to live until my case goes to court in Jan. 2017 for my disability. So now its Tuesday Oct 15th and one of the staff workers Valarie catches me off guard and says to me your time here is up you have to go we already took your name off the bed list, so i said i want to speak to Jeanie the director, about the letter my lawyer gave her, i said she never met with me, so she told me Jeanie was busy for me to come back at 1:30, so i called my lawyer and told her they wanted me to put me out the shelter at the Salvation Army today, she asked me for the fax number and i asked Valarie for the num. she gave me the wrong num. so by that time it was almost two, so i just made up my mind that i would get my belongings and go because they will call the police on you if you leave. I asked the captain if he could get me an extension he said it's not up to the Salvation Army its up to the Homeless Registration Hotline they placed me there in a 2 month program and when i called them they said no it's not them it's up to the Salvation Army and the case managers there. So i Have been lied to the Director avoided my lawyers letter she never responded to it and they let two other hispanic women live there for 1 yr. and another one for 9 months and neither of them work. They treat everyone like their bums from under the bridge they snap on you if you need them for something the food is terrible their partial and unethical and they behave as if their on anxiety medication, And they act as if they hate their job. The Salvation Army in Miami Just lost their contract with The V A and this Tuesday had to all be placed in another Shelter, Because they upset some of the Vet's they put out and they called up the Commissioner and told him what was happening over there. So i'm making this complaint so that someone who have a heart to help keep people safe from the streets so that these workers at this shelter won't mistreat them by kicking the elderly out at 4 am in the morning with their belongings. Like they caught me by surprise even though i gave them a letter from my Disability Lawyer and told me this is your day to Leave you have to Go. They make 5k off each person they bring in that's all they care about this is serious and it need to be investigated ASAP. Thank you very Much Miss Pissed
