I am now the third person in my family that the Salvation Army would not come take furniture we were donating. I would NEVER give anything to the Salvation Army, money or items, any longer as they are way too picky on what they will and will not take. I seem to remember a time when I would take anything when I was in dire need. Very sad.

I would not give one dime to the Salvation Army. Apparently the do not consider the needs of the needy at all and don't want to be put out of their way. 1296af7

Salvation Army stores are full of useless junk, most of it broken and/or torn up, and what's not is overpriced. I'm talking things like a table missing a leg, half a dot matrix printer, a cracked mirror, furniture with holes in the cushions, etc. Probably none of the employees had a vehicle big enough that day to steal it and take it home (which is what happens to some of the donations).

Well put Pulltype. They only take stuff they can use. Stop trying to give away useless junk and they'll take it.

Nothing to do with being put out of their way. If the furniture you try to give away is junk, it costs SA big money to get rid of it. Very difficult for them to take something they cannot use.
