Salvation Army - Cancelled Donation Pickup
I tried to donate a queen size mattress to the Salvation Army. Trying to schedule the pickup was a hassle; I was directed from the Manhattan Salvation Army to Long Island three separate times. Finally, I was forced to explain to workers at the Manhattan Salvation Army office that they are responsible for furniture pickups in Long Island, per their website. When I finally scheduled the pickup, I was told the box spring would NOT be accepted. We discarded the box spring because of this.
After discarding the box spring of the mattress, the Salvation Army cancelled the mattress pickup...twice. The excuse given each time was that a driver "called in sick" and my options for rescheduling were both one month from the original pick up date. This was particularly frustrating because the mattress has been kept in the house taking up space waiting for them to pick it up. Additionally, we have rearranged schedules to wait around for a pick up, only to have it cancelled the day of.
I will never donate anything to the Salvation Army again and will find other, more competent organizations.
Reason of review: Poor customer service.

Been a year now since I've contacted them
You are so rude and vulger!Maybe it was junk and you shouldnt take it out on them!
With bed bugs being so ever common now, I am surprised that anyone would take a used mattress! Apart from that, it is nasty because most used mattresses have urine stains, blood stains and other bodily secretions that have seeped into the mattress. Used mattresses belong in the dump!
Next time I suggest the department of veteran affairs. The give to homeless vets.
why would anyone donate a used mattress eeeek?
