The Salvation Army is an international social movement connected with Christian Church. Its mission is preaching Christian values and meeting human needs without discrimination. The movement was started in 1852 by William Booth. It developed mainly in England and in the United States. In XX century it expanded rapidly to Canada, Australia, France, Switzerland, India and many other countries.

The Salvation Army manages many social programs, including Anti-***, Housing and Homeless Services, Youth Camps, Disaster Relief and Christmas Charity. The activity of the movement is based on the help of volunteers. Only in 2010 The Salvation Army's work received assistance from more than 3,400,000 individuals.
